Funeral services have been set for Bruce Egeland of Estherville, IA, formerly of Marshall, who passed away at the age of 57 on December 30th. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 at Oak Shores in Wallingford, IA with burial at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service at Oak Shores. The Henry Olson Funeral in Estherville, IA is handling the arrangements.
Bruce David Egeland was born in Estherville, Iowa on March 31, 1968, to David and Jeanne (Howard) Egeland. He passed away surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle against cancer on December 30, 2025, at the age of 57. Bruce graduated from Lincoln Central High School, a member of the class of 1986. He then obtained his accounting degree from Spencer School of Business. Bruce moved to Sioux City following college and worked for IBP and Dakota Pork, before settling in as a Cost Accountant at Schwann’s Foods from 1990 until 2017. Bruce finished out his working career with Pipestone Systems. He was a dedicated employee still working until a week before he passed away. Bruce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying time hunting and fishing, and passing that love along to his nieces and nephews. Bruce was a social person, enjoying racing, shooting pool, throwing darts, and going on casino adventures. His family enjoyed his cooking; his specialty was smoking meats and anything else he could dream up. Bruce loved to spend time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Bruce is survived by his parents Dave and Jeanne Egeland; his brothers Tom (Stephanie) Egeland and Bob (Brenda) Egeland; nieces and nephews Brooke (Kyle) Farmer, Austin (Katie) Egeland, Nick (Emma Christensen) Egeland, Logan (Alli Platte) Egeland, and Paige (Jory Joy) Egeland; great nephew and niece Zachary and Taylor Egeland; and special friends Tylyn (Tyler) Honken and their children. Bruce is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, two infant nephews Jacob Robert Egeland and Zachary Thomas Egeland.
