Delores Haugen, age 95, of rural Canby, MN passed away on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 at her farm. Funeral service will be Friday, July 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Canby, MN. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Canby, MN is entrusted with arrangements.
Delores Marilyn Haugen was born on May 27th, 1929 in Canby, MN to Martin and Mable (Larsen) Schultz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. Delores graduated from Canby High School. On December 30, 1949, she married Floyd Haugen and to this union five children were born. Delores and Floyd were married for 65 years until his passing on May 5th, 2014. One of Delores’s joys in life was teaching. She worked hard to complete her training at the Normal school and taught in a country school for two years before becoming a mother. Delores’s involvement in education continued through her work as a Sunday school teacher and a 4-H volunteer. In her spare time, Delores enjoyed gardening, handwork, and a variety of other crafts. She also spent many winters traveling to Arizona and Texas.
Grateful for having shared Delores’s life are her five children: Duane (Suzi) Haugen of Madison, MN; Dave (Jan) Haugen of Willmar, MN; Doug (Sue) Haugen of Dawson, MN; Deb (Jay) Galecki of Denver, CO; and Bradley (Amy) Haugen of Willmar, MN; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Orville (Helen) Schultz of Canby, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents, Martin and Mable Schultz; as well as other relatives and friends.
