A private family service will be held at a later date for Barbara Jorgensen, 94, of Marshall.  The Horvath Funeral Service of Marshall is handling the arrangements.

Barbara Jean Lehrer was born December 22, 1927, in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Georgia and Arthur Lehrer, one of seven children. She attended Springfield High School and graduated in June of 1945. That fall she enrolled at The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, and graduated with a degree in education. She taught school in Browns Valley, MN, Robbinsdale, MN, and Holy Redeemer School in Marshall.  In June of 1953 she married Dick Jorgensen.  They were married for 64 years. They lived in Marshall, raised their active family of 6 children with love and laughter, ran numerous businesses together, and were active in the community, Southwest MN State University causes and the church.  Barbara loved living in their close-knit neighborhood and established lifelong friendships in Marshall with all her neighbors, but especially with Louise Quam, Bea Taintor, the Bigler family, Lois Henkel, her church circle, and her “Lunch Bunch.” Her faith and her church were a very important part of her life. It was often said by her husband, Dick, that there was no doubt that Barbara will end up in heaven, and he believed she prayed and attended church enough to also cover him. They absolutely loved their cabin on Big Stone Lake and spent time there with family and friends every summer weekend. Barbara was a kind, generous, thoughtful and optimistic woman.
