Edna Violet Ballard, age 102, of Tyler, Minnesota died on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler. Burial will be at Danebod Cemetery in Tyler. The Hartquist Funeral Service – Tyler Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Edna Violet Ballard was born on August 22, 1920, to August and Jeanette (Funck) Reichard in Pine City, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She moved with her family to a farm between Arco and Tyler in 1927. On January 26, 1941, she and Grover Ballard were married. During World War 2, she lived in Louisiana, Colorado, and North Caroline, moving with Grover as he was stationed during the 48 months he spent training until he left for Germany. She was a stay-at-home mom until her sons graduated high school. She then worked for the City of Tyler as a Utilities Clerk for 26 years. On December 3, 2022, while residing at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota, Edna passed away peacefully at the age of 102 years, 3 months, and 12 days.
Edna is survived by her sons; Jerome Ballard of Glenwood, Minnesota, and Neal (Linda) Ballard of Tyler; granddaughters, Marcia (Craig) Domeier of Sedona, Arizona, and Carrie (Chad) Blanchette of Rochester, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Mallory (Steven) Snyder, Lyndsey Nermoe, Elena Blanchette, Megan Blanchette, Carter Blanchette, and Natalie Blanchette; sisters-in-law, Helen Ballard and Charlotte Ballard of California, and Mary Ann Reichard of Sauk Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Ballard; parents August and Jeanette Reichard; siblings Walter Reichard, Kenneth Reichard, Erna Jacobsen, and Margaret Anderson; and daughter-in-law Mary Ballard.
