A memorial service for Wayne Noel Reiten, 82 of Wood Lake, MN, will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at United Methodist Church in Wood Lake, MN beginning at 1:00p.m. A public visitation will be held at church beginning an hour prior to the service. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for a time of fellowship and lunch at the Wood Lake Community Center. Private family burial will take place at the Wood Lake Cemetery at a later date. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association in Echo is handling the arrangements.
Wayne Noel Reiten was born on June 5, 1941 to Melvin and Anna Mae (Roudebush) Reiten in Granite Falls, MN. He grew up on a farm outside of Granite Falls, MN. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in the spring of 1959. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. While working at the Champlain Truck Stop in Granite Falls, MN in 1961 he met and fell in love with Lois Helvig who was a waitress at the Champlain Café. The couple was married on November 10, 1962 at the Hanley Falls, MN Lutheran Church. Together the couple had five children, they raised their family on the farm outside of Wood Lake, MN. Wayne’s family was important to him, family gatherings were always a highlight to him. He took pride in setting a proper example for his children and grandchildren. Wayne Noel Reiten died on July 10, 2023 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Lois (Helvig) Reiten; children Cathy (Brian) Knutson of Lakeville, MN, Trevor (Shelly) Reiten of Wood Lake, MN, Scott (Kristen) Reiten of St. Peter, MN; grandchildren Jasmine (Frank) Burmis, Chelsea (Joshua) Lee, Hailey Reiten, Jenna Reiten, McKenna Reiten; sister-in-law Marti Reiten, brother-in-law Mark Bigaouette. Wayne is preceded in death by his children Connie Reiten and Steven Reiten; his parents Melvin and Anna Mae Reiten; siblings Odell (Mary) Reiten, Lola (Donald) Dambroten, Harold Reiten, Ellen Bengtson, and Joyce Bigaouette.
