Vera M. Sylte, age 93, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at her home in Ivanhoe.  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, MN.  Burial will be in the Vesta Community Cemetery, Vesta, MN.  Visitation will be Saturday, October 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, MN.  Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.

Vera Marn Blondina Henriksen Kletscher Sylte was born January 5, 1927 to George and Blondina (Jordan) Henriksen near Vesta, MN. She was baptized on January 13, 1927 and confirmed on May 5th, 1940 both at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. She was called from this life on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 6 days.  On June 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wayne Kletscher. The couple made their home and farmed the Kletscher farm for 25 years. Wayne passed away on April 1, 1973. On June 3, 1978, Vera married Floyd Sylte of Benson, MN. Vera and her daughter Anna moved to Benson with Floyd. Vera and Floyd enjoyed 27 years of marriage together. On January 25, 2005, Floyd passed away. In July of 2005, Vera bought a house in Ivanhoe, Mn to be closer to her daughter Anna, Loren and family.  Vera was a very kind and caring person. The only thing in life she wanted to do was take care of her family and she did that well. She was a very faithful person, she trusted and followed God all of her life. She enjoyed gardening, visiting with family, cooking, baking, and listening and dancing to Polka music. She was very well known for her rice krispie bars that no one can replicate. She will be missed and well remembered.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Anna (Loren) Epple; grandchildren: Jessica (Eric) Epple, Tyler (Emilie) Epple and Jason Epple; step daughters: Marion Bangsund and Sandra (Robert) Rodahl; four step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and three siblings: Gladys Beadell, Pearl Ville and Melvin (Louise) Henriksen.  Vera was preceded in death by her first husband Wayne, second husband Floyd; parents George and Blondina; sister Doris Penske, step son-in-law Wally Bangsund and brothers-in-law: Allen Penske, Alton Beadell and Lloyd Ville.
