Communities Across Southwest Minnesota to Honor Fallen Military Heroes This Memorial Day

Marshall Dedicates New Solar and Battery Storage Project

MARSHALL — Local officials, community members, and project partners gathered Tuesday, May 20, to mark the dedication of the Marshall Solar Plus (MSP) project, a renewable energy facility combining 10 megawatts (MW) of solar generation with 5 MW of battery storage. Located on 78 acres in Lyon County, the facility includes approximately 21,000 photovoltaic panels across 55 acres and an integrated energy-storage system. Level 3 Predatory Offender Moving to Marshall Neighborhood

MARSHALL — The Marshall Police Department has announced that Bradley Scott Edwards, a Level 3 predatory offender, will be relocating to the 600 block of West Main Street on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Edwards is under the supervision of the Minnesota Department of Corrections’ Intensive Supervised Release program. Road Work Underway: Milling and Paving Operations in Progress on City Streets

MARSHALL — Central Specialties Inc. began milling operations on several city streets Wednesday, May 21, 2025, as part of an ongoing mill and overlay project. “No Parking” signs were placed in advance along affected routes, and vehicles must remain off these streets during active construction hours. Milling is expected to be completed by Friday, May 23. Parking will be allowed over Memorial Day weekend (May 24–26). Paving is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 27, weather permitting. Lyon County Pledges Support for Marshall Affordable Housing Project

MARSHALL — For the third consecutive year, Tapestry Companies is seeking state tax credits to build a 60-unit affordable housing complex in Marshall. On Tuesday, the Lyon County Board voted to pledge its remaining state housing funds to strengthen the project’s application for financing from the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.  The proposed development would be located near London Road and offer one- to four-bedroom apartments for families earning up to 50% of the area's median income. Street Reconstruction Project, Water Main Repair Continues in Marshall 

MARSHALL — Construction is now underway on the S Minnesota Street/S Hill Street/Charles Avenue Reconstruction Project, led by contractor D&G Excavating, Inc. Work began this week with alley closures, and full street closures in the project area will start Tuesday, May 27, 2025.  During construction, no through-traffic will be allowed, and residents are advised to park on adjacent streets. Fairfax Man Injured After Semi Rollover Crash in Brown County

SLEEPY EYE, MN – A Fairfax man was injured on Wednesday after a rollover crash in Brown County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 10:23 Wednesday morning, a 2020 International semi was traveling southbound on Highway 4. Near the intersection with 320th street, the semi lost control and rolled into the ditch.  The driver of the International, 56-year-old Dean Krippner of Fairfax, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.   Assistance was provided by the Sheriff’s Offices from Brown and Nicollet Counties, Sleepy Eye Police, Fire, and Ambulance.
