COTTONWOOD, MN — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday near Cottonwood in Lyon County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At 11:15 Saturday morning, a 2009 GMC Yukon and a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan were both traveling northbound on State Highway 23 when they collided. The roads were covered with ice and snow, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver of the GMC, 37-year-old Ben Marchington of Marshall, was not injured. His two passengers, girls ages 13 and 17, both from Marshall, were taken to the Marshall hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler, 46-year-old Faustino Salinas of Danube, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Granite Falls hospital.
Assistance was provided by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Cottonwood Fire and EMS, Marshall North Ambulance, and Granite Falls Ambulance.
