BROWN COUNTY — On Sunday, a teenager drowned at Mound Creek County Park in Brown County.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Brown County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a possible drowning at the park. Witnesses reported that a 15-year-old boy from Mountain Lake was swimming when he got into trouble, went underwater, and didn’t come back up.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene to rescue the boy. Despite receiving medical attention, he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The teen’s body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. His name will be released once an autopsy is completed.

This is the second drowning of a Mountain Lake teenager in about a month. In April, another 15-year-old boy drowned in Eagle Lake in Cottonwood County.

Mound Creek Park is in the southwest corner of Brown County, about two miles from the Jeffers Petroglyphs site.

First responders from Springfield, Cottonwood County, Sanborn, and Windom assisted at the scene.
