Sylvia Guzman, age 66, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.  Traditional Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.  The evening will conclude with a memory share at 7:00 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.

Sylvia Esthelle Guzman was born on July 30, 1956, in the Bronx, New York. She was the daughter of Miguel and Julia (Alvarado) Guzman. She grew up in New York and Puerto Rico as her family moved back and forth. She finished high school in New York, graduating with the class of 1973 and also met Mr. Walter Andujar around that same time. Sylvia and Walter were married later that year in New York.  In 1976 the family moved to Puerto Rico where Sylvia continued to study education and she then began working as a teacher. Following a divorce in 1986, Sylvia moved to Texas, and she began work both there and back in Puerto Rico for many more years. In 2019, Sylvia moved to Marshall, Minnesota, to be near her only son Alex.  Sylvia enjoyed her many years as a teacher and always had a special place in her heart for her students. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, socializing, cookouts with family, and expressing her creative side through arts and crafts.

Sylvia Guzman died on Monday, March 6, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota, following a tough battle with brain cancer. She had reached the age of 66 years, 2 months, and 6 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her son, Alex (and Gloria) Andujar of Marshall; 3 grandchildren, Nidia (and Chris) DiSanto of Marshall, Cezar (and Lexie) Andujar of Marshall, Gabriel (and Marcela) Andujar of Marshall; 7 great-grandchildren and another on the way, Anthony, Ayden, Romeo, Isaac, Leo, Princess Maite, and Elias; brother, Miguel Guzman of Puerto Rico; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Julia Guzman; and a brother, Luis Guzman.
