Spencer Shane Otteson, 33, of Canby MN, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN with Pastor Doug Wing officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 28th from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Spencer was born November 8, 1987 in Willmar, son of Glenn and Vicki (Thompson) Otteson. He grew up south of Brooten and attended BBE, graduating in 2006.  On June 8, 2012 Spencer was united in marriage to Amanda Jacobson. That year, he graduated from St. Cloud State and moved to Canby, beginning his teaching career where he taught science and coached basketball and golf. He earned two Master’s degrees from SMSU in Educational Leadership and Administration. Spencer was an avid outdoorsman who loved traveling, camping, and hiking with his family. In his spare time, you would find him golfing, hunting, or fishing.

Spencer is survived by his wife, Amanda of 9 years and children Blake, Korra, and Eli. Parents, Glenn and Vicki Otteson. Siblings: Marci (Darin) Schwinghammer, Jerad (Tammy) Otteson, Tyler (Shana) Otteson. In-laws, Paul and Renae Jacobson. Sisters-in-law: Shannon (Robert C.) Camargo and Marisa (Oscar) Gonzalez. Nieces and nephews: Logan, Parker, Morgan Brady, Jade, Charlie, Izzy, Beckett, Elyse, Savanna, Elias, and Madelyn.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olaf and Edith Otteson and Donald and Lorraine Thompson.
