MARSHALL (KMHL) – It might be a good idea to pay attention to the weather this afternoon across southwest Minnesota.

Parts of the region could see their first real shot of severe weather this season. The National Weather Service says parts of Lyon and Lincoln County are included in a slight risk for severe weather.

Forecasters say the most significant storms are expected late in the day – some of them may be capable of producing large hail up to the size of baseballs and wind gusts to near 75 mph.

The greatest threat for severe weather, according to the National Weather Service, will be to the south near the Missouri River.
