RUSHMORE, MN – A Nobles County Sheriff’s Deputy remains in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon in Dewald Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
At approximately 4:34 p.m., a 2020 Chevy Equinox driven by 63-year-old Theresa Ann Bear of Sioux Falls was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 when it collided with a 2023 Dodge Durango squad vehicle near milepost 34. The squad vehicle was operated by 30-year-old Arnold Logan Waldner, a deputy with the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office.
Bear sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Luverne Medical Center. Deputy Waldner, however, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford Hospital in Worthington, where he remains in critical condition.
According to the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Waldner has served with the department for two years. Sheriff Ryan Kruger asked the community to “please continue to hold Deputy Waldner in your thoughts and prayers.”
A fund has been established at 1st State Bank Southwest in Worthington to help support Waldner and his family during his recovery. Contributions can be made by contacting (507) 376-9747 or by visiting the bank.
