CHANHASSEN, Minn. – Severe storms swept across Minnesota on Wednesday afternoon and evening, bringing strong winds and large hail. The National Weather Service reported five-inch hail in Chokio, Stevens County, and four-inch hail in Graceville, Big Stone County. Northfield saw two-inch hail, while Zumbro Falls experienced 1.75-inch hailstones.

Wind gusts reached 73 mph in Vergas and Frazee, 66 mph in Alexandria, and 64 mph in Lake Benton. In Fergus Falls, straight-line winds exceeding 70 mph downed trees and caused power outages. Thunderstorm damage was widespread, and some areas in southern Minnesota experienced flash flooding.
