SPRINGFIELD (KMHL) – One of the leading Democratic presidential candidates has slammed the Mayo Clinic Health System for its decision to close a couple of its facilities in southwest Minnesota.
Bernie Sanders Tweeted that clinic executives have stripped away access to health care and put profits over people. Sanders has long been a proponent of health care for all Americans.

Mayo Clinic generated $12.6 billion in revenue and $706 million in profits last year, but announced the closure of the locations in Springfield and Lamberton in March.
