Robert A. Eilers, age 91, of Canby, MN, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Antelope Hills Christian Church in Canby, MN with Rev. LeRoy Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery, Canby. Visitation will be 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN and will resume Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Houseman Funeral Home – Birk Chapel in Canby is handling the arrangements.
Robert Arthur Eilers was born August 23, 1933 in Revillo, South Dakota to Sieben and Nettie (Fricka) Eilers. He was raised on various farms in the Canby, Minnesota area. Following his education, he began farming on his own near Canby. Robert was united in marriage to Wanda Thorpe on September 5, 1958 in Canby, MN. The couple made their home on a farm near Canby where they raised their family. They moved into Canby and then he later retired from farming but continued to help his grandsons with their farming. He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church in Canby where he served on the church board. Robert also served on the Farmers Coop Board in Canby. He enjoyed driving in the country to check on the crops. With his strong Christian faith, he touched the lives of many throughout the years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Eilers; four daughters: Lori (Robert) Jelen, Brenda (Joe) Mamer, Karen (Duane) Ludewig and Robin (Keith) Nuese; daughter-in-law, Jill Eilers; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son Tim; grandson Justin Steele, granddaughter, Brittany Jelen; siblings: Margaret Kriese, Iver Eilers, Deloris Mether, John Eilers and cousin Margaret Fricka.
