The warning covers several counties in Iowa, including Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux, O’Brien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury, and Ida. In Minnesota, affected counties include Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles, Jackson, Pipestone, and Rock.
Northwest winds between 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, combined with relative humidity as low as 20 percent, are creating critical fire weather conditions. The NWS warns that any fires that start could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged during this period.
