(KMHL) — The Red Flag Warning for eight counties in southwestern Minnesota remains in effect until 7:00PM today (Thursday) due to extreme fire risk conditions. The National Weather Service extended it one day for Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock counties.
A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Brown, Lac Qui Parle, Martin, Redwood, Watonwan and Yellow Medicine counties. Gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions today in those areas and any fires that develop will spread rapidly.
