MAYNARD – A Pelican Rapids man is dead, and a New York man is injured after their vehicles collided on Highway 7 in Chippewa County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 5:08 Tuesday afternoon, a 2007 Freightliner semi was traveling eastbound on Highway 7 and a 2022 Ford F350 was traveling northbound on County Road 4 when the vehicles collided in the intersection. 

The driver of the Freightliner, 59-year-old Timmy James Tarnowski of Pelican Rapids, died from injuries sustained in the accident. 

The driver of the Ford, 32-year-old Georgii Gabiev of Brooklyn, New York, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Willmar hospital.  

Assistance was provided by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Maynard Police Department, Maynard Fire Department, and Clara City Fire and Ambulance.
