Pauline Hoffman, age 87, of Porter, MN, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at the St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, MN. Burial will be in the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery, St. Leo. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and Rosary to follow on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to be given to the St. Leo Legion and Legion Auxiliary, Sanford Hospice or St. Leo Catholic Cemetery Fund
Pauline Marie Hoffman was born December 22, 1935 in Minneota, MN to Charles and Elizabeth (Anseeuw) Hamerlinck. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward’s Catholic Church and graduated from Minneota High School in 1953. Pauline was united in marriage to Leonard Hoffman in September of 1953 in Manhattan, Kansas. To this union six children were born and were also blessed with 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Pauline was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, St. Leo CCW and adult choir, the neighborhood birthday club, hospital auxiliary and St. Leo Legion Auxiliary, serving as secretary for many years. Saying the Rosary was very important to Pauline and St. Anthony was always close to her heart. She enjoyed music, crafts, bowling in earlier years, baking, flower gardening, working with photographs, playing cards, “ladies’ weekends”, attending grandchildren’s activities, spending time with family and their many camping trips near and far. Pauline also enjoyed canning pickles and baking Belgian cookies with her grandchildren every year. In addition, she and Leonard enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona.
Pauline is survived by her six children: Nancy and Mike Verhelst, Canby, MN, Doug and Carol Hoffman, Parkers Prairie, MN, Chuck and Lorie Hoffman, Porter, MN, Sue and Terry McMahon, Coon Rapids, MN, Dan and Doris Hoffman, Lakeville, MN and Ron and Kari Hoffman, Porter, MN; 17 grandchildren: 30 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Hamerlinck; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; grandson, Andrew Hoffman; parents Charles and Elizabeth Hamerlinck; two brothers: Donald and Francis Hamerlinck and her in-laws: Math and Stella Hoffman.
