MARSHALL — Patzer’s Hardware Hank, a fixture in downtown Marshall since 1969, has announced it is liquidating its hardware, appliance, and furniture business after nearly six decades of operation. The decision follows co-owner Lyle Patzer’s plans to relocate with his wife Rose to be closer to family in the Twin Cities area.
In a recent public statement, the Patzer family expressed appreciation for the community’s support over the years. The post reflected on 58 years of business, noting the relationships built with customers and the role the store has played in furnishing homes and supporting local projects.
The Patzer family’s presence on Main Street will continue. Mark Patzer, along with Austin Patzer, will maintain operations focused on outdoor power equipment and small engine service. The business plans to expand its offerings in this area, with continued sales and service for Toro products and other equipment lines.
The hardware store’s liquidation is expected to take several months. Once complete, the space will be repurposed to support the expanded outdoor power equipment division.
Founded by Archie and Bea Patzer, the business originally operated as a Gambles store before becoming affiliated with Hardware Hank in 1987. Over the years, it adapted to changes in the retail landscape, including a move to its current West Main Street location in the 1980s.
