Orla Renetta Timm was born on June 13, 1927, on the family farm in Posen Township, near Wood Lake, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Erwin and Ella (Mohwinkel) Timm.  Orla was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake.  She attended school there through the 8th grade and then graduated from Wood Lake High School with the class of 1945.  Following graduation Orla moved to Hopkins, Minnesota, and worked various office jobs in the Western suburbs on the Twin Cities.  In 1975, she moved to Marshall and began her career at Schwan’s.  She worked there, primarily in inventory, until her retirement.  Orla was a self-proclaimed “boss” of her environment and came from Hopkins many weekends to care for her parents.  She also took them on many trips to see family in other states.  Her other enjoyments in life included traveling, antiquing, and following the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.  She liked going out to eat or hosting lunches at her place, but especially loved flowers and filling her patio and home with her floral creations.
