Olga M. Snortum, age 95, of Canby, MN passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Perham, MN. A walk-through viewing will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10 AM, one hour prior to the funeral service at 11am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN with Pastor Levi Bollerud officiating. The service will be live streamed on the OSL YouTube Channel that is accessible at OSLCanby.org. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.

Olga Millicent (Lee) Snortum was born on July 1st, 1925 to Haven and Sena Lee at their farm in Dawson, MN. She was the youngest of three brothers and one sister. She was affectionately known as “Tootsie” in the Dawson area. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1944. Olga and Darold united their love by marriage on July 29th, 1951. They made their home in Canby where they spent the past 69 years in a home they built right after they married. On December 22nd, 2020 Darold and Olga visited their son, Pete and daughter, Desli in Perham, MN. They spent the evening visiting and relaxing with merriment. Olga went to bed that evening next to the love of her life with a heart full of love, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 23rd.  Olga worked as a Telephone Operator, in a Tax Office, a floral designer for Snortum’s Flowers until Darold and Olga established Snortum’s Nursery and Landscaping when she became the devoted Bookkeeper until 2015.  Olga was community minded with involvement in different clubs and organizations which included the Yellow Medicine County Fair, the American Cancer Society where she earned numerous awards for her top fundraising and the MECCA home. Together Darold and Olga enjoyed singing with the Our Saviors Lutheran Church choir. Olga also loved being involved with the Church Bell choir. She thoroughly enjoyed singing solo as an outstanding soprano at events such as weddings, special church services and with the Quartet. Olga and Darold were avid fans of their grandchildren and great grandchildren’s extracurricular and sporting events. You could consider Darold and Olga top Canby Lancer Fan Club Members!  Olga stayed busy with knitting, sewing, puzzles, special shopping trips with granddaughters and daughter in laws. She was always up for adventure, and loved to travel with her family. At the age of 88 she enjoyed New York City with her daughter in law and young granddaughters, she never took one accommodation and kept up with the “youngsters”. Olga maintained her adventurous lifestyle as she entered her 90’s with out of state trips with her son’s. One highlight of her travels was a trip to Israel, where she and Darold sang a duet in the Garden of Gethsemane on Good Friday.

Olga lived her “hyphen” to its fullest by radiating love, joy and laughter. She showed others what living a life well lived is about. Olga is survived by her soulmate, Darold and their children, Robert (Gabriele) Snortum of Canby, MN, Steven Snortum of Granite Falls, MN and Peter (Desli) Snortum of Perham, MN. Her 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
