Norma taught country school at Mount Pleasant and Michelson country schools near Toronto, SD. On Dec. 31, 1939, Norma married Victor Siverson of Hendricks, Minnesota. Together they had five children: Eric Gordon, Millie, Ralph, Elizabeth and Sylvia. Norma was instrumental in starting the Women’s Literary Club in 1960 and was a lifelong member. In 1964, she became a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Club. Norma was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for 63 years. She served as president of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, assisted confirmation classes, and her big passion was making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was a nurse’s aide, and later worked as Activities Director in the nursing home. She assisted in starting the Hendricks Hospital thrift shop. Norma was active in the Republican Party. She served as Lincoln County chairperson, was a delegate in the national convention in New Orleans and campaigned for candidates on local, state and national levels. Norma loved Bible study groups, prayer meetings, family get togethers, celebrating holidays, and celebrating community events by dressing up in costumes in the spirit of the event. She was always a good sport and willing to try new adventures with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She loved her 100th birthday celebration at Christ Lutheran Church, with the delightful program, meal, and quilt auction for charity. Norma traveled to most of the 50 states, including Hawaii and the countries Israel and Mexico. She loved playing Dominos, card games, and driving her golf cart.
She is lovingly remembered by her children–Eric Gordon (Nona) of Milan, MN; Mildred of Los Angeles; Ralph (Patty) of Hendricks; Elizabeth (Dale Andrew) of Champaign, IL; Sylvia (Dan) of Foley, MN; 14 grandchildren– Robin, Greg, Becky, Stephen, Michelle, Liesa, Rachel, Travis, Slade, Derrick, Matthew, Carlie, Lindsay and Alex, 28 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. We celebrate her earthly life with us as she now celebrates her eternal life with her Lord and Saviour.
