CHANDLER – An explosion at the Chandler Feed Company in Chandler was reported Wednesday afternoon, according to the Murray County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 12:38 Wednesday afternoon, dispatch received multiple calls reporting an explosion at the Chandler Feed Company. Numerous fire departments were called to respond to the explosion. Mutual aid firefighters stayed on the scene until approximately 4:20 Thanksgiving morning, while the Chandler Fire Department continues to monitor the scene at this time in case of re-ignition.
One person was injured in the explosion and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. Their condition is not known at this time.
The Chandler Fire Department and First Responders were assisted by the Lake Wilson Fire Department and First Responders, Slayton Fire Department, Iona Fire Department, Woodstock Fire Department, Pipestone Fire Department, Worthington Fire Department, Edgerton Fire Department and Ambulance, Murray County Ambulance, Murray County Emergency Management, Nobles County Emergency Management, Grimmius Trucking, Bolluyt Trucking, Excel Energy, and C&J Construction.
The Murray County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
