A Minneota man is dead after a crash between an SUV and two motorcycles Tuesday evening.

EMS and First Responders were dispatched to area of the Lyon County Road 6 and 310th Ave. finding that two motorcycles and an SUV were involved in a head-on collision.  The operator of one of the motorcycles was identified as 44 year old Peter Haugen of Minneota.  Haugen was pronounced dead at the  scene.  The operator of the second motorcycle, 41 year old Frederick Day of  Minneota was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.  The driver of the SUV, and  lone vehicle occupant, was identified as a 27 year old Taylor Schmidt of Tracy who was also treated for injuries.  The cause of the crash remains open and under  investigation although alcohol impairment and intoxication is not suspected as a contributing factor.

Responding agencies included the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, MN State Patrol and the Lyon County Coroner’s Office.
