MARSHALL — The Marshall Fire Department was called out to a barn fire on the edge of Marshall city limits on Thursday. The call came in just before noon reporting a barn on fire near the corner of E Street and East Lyon Street. Calls for assistance were sent to neighboring fire departments from Ghent and Cottonwood to help battle the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.
According to Marshall Fire Chief Quentin Brunsvold, the fire was mostly contained to the area of the barn where the fire started. That area of the barn was used as a woodworking shop and storage for lumber. Brunsvold says the initial investigation shows the fire was started when a hot ember got into a dust collector.
