MARSHALL — Marshall and Dawson-Boyd Public Schools are among 17 partnerships across Minnesota selected to receive funding through the state’s Youth Skills Training (YST) program, the Department of Labor and Industry announced Monday.

The two school districts will share in a total of $1.5 million allocated to support programs that provide career exposure and paid work experience for students 16 and older. The funding will help expand opportunities in fields such as health care, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, automotive, and information technology.

Program Manager Jo Daggett says:

“Really what the program is all about is helping to build partnerships between local industry, employers and local school districts that are mutually beneficial. So we operate in five industry areas, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, automotive, healthcare and IT.”

Grants will support programming from July 2025 through June 2027 and can be used for student recruitment, employer partnerships, industry certifications, and transportation.
