Margery “Marge” A. Drown, age 85, of Taunton, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby. There will be no services for Marge.
Margery “Margie” A. Drown was born on December 15, 1939, to Phillip and Alvina (Homan) Kockelman, Jr. in Canby, MN. She was raised in St. Leo, MN and graduated from Canby High School. She married Robert Drown and they had three sons: twins Wilbur and William, and Daniel. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near St. Leo before moving to Taunton, MN in 1971. Margie worked at BH Electric, and as a cook at the Round-Up in Minneota, the Corner Café in Taunton and the hospital in Canby. After her retirement from the hospital, Margie stayed busy by volunteering at the Second Harvest in Marshall. Margie passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby, MN at the age of 85 years and 9 days. Margie enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, playing cards, puzzles, crosswords and word finds, going out to eat, especially at Hero’s in Canby, visiting with friends and family, attending and then later watching church services on tv. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her sister Joan, parades, and driving around Taunton.
Margie is survived by her sons Wilbur (Jennifer) Drown, Ivanhoe, MN and Daniel (Sheila) Drown, New Underwood, SD; grandchildren: Angela (John) Martin, Rapid City, SD, Kayla Smith, Minneota, MN, LaShad Smith, Valley City, North Dakota, and Mason Smith, Ivanhoe, MN; great grandchildren: Luelle, Fletcher, Dexter and Adira Martin, Rapid City, SD; brother Gene (Sherry) Kockelman, Clarkfield, MN; brother-in-law Leroy (special friend, Karen Kockelman) Eischens, Canby, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son William; sisters: Carol Eischens and Joan Mamer; brother-in-law, Donald Mamer; and nephew, Allan Mamer.
