Austin, MN – A 48-year-old man is in custody at Mower County Jail after leading police on a high-speed chase from Owatonna to Austin with a child in the car. The incident began late Sunday night when Owatonna officers responded to a disturbance at a local store. The suspect struck a squad car while fleeing. The chase ended after stop sticks disabled his vehicle. Following a standoff at a relative’s home, officers arrested the man, safely recovered the child, and discovered multiple knives, bear spray, and a can of gasoline in the car.
