MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will join a statewide task force to investigate human trafficking.
The task force is being led by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. It uses a three-pronged approach to fighting human trafficking, with a focus on prevention, education and enforcement.
Joining the task force will allow the sheriff’s office to better investigate human trafficking. As members, they are also able to help with cross-jurisdictional investigations and able to request funds from the BCA to help with investigations.
At their meeting earlier this week, county commissioners approved a joint powers agreement allowing the sheriff’s office to join the task force.
