MARSHALL — Most of the heavy rain held off until late Wednesday evening in Marshall and fairgoers were able to enjoy the first day of the Lyon County Fair. Just over half of an inch of rain was reported on the AP Design – KMHL Rain Gauge in the city of Marshall. Other rainfall totals include three-quarters of an inch in the city of Tracy, six-tenths in Tyler and Wabasso, three-tenths in Cottonwood, and half an inch in Taunton. 

Several hundred Lyon County residents and visitors made their way to the Lyon County Fairgrounds for the steak fry Wednesday evening. There were guest speakers and musical entertainment by Ragtown.  

Today is Disability Awareness Day at the fair. This morning’s events and activities include Daycare Day and performances by Wanda the Clown from 10:00 until noon. Later today, the pedal pull will be held at 5:00, a performance by the Kayko Baton Studio at 6:00 at the Hoop Barn, PRCA Rodeo at 7:00, and musical entertainment by Maiden Dixie at 8:30.
