Luz Maria Chavarria Guillen, age 86, of Canby, MN, passed away at her home in Canby on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN with Rev. LeRoy Hopper officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday, September 11th one hour prior to the service. Doña Luz was born to the late Emilio Chavarria and Honoria Guillen on November 24, 1934, in Coahuila, Mexico. She was the oldest of 16 children. Doña Luz family emigrated to the United States in the early 1950’s where Doña Luz met and married the late Don Maximiliano Estrada on July 13, 1953, in Las Cruces, NM. Together they had nine children. Doña Luz is survived by her children: Nina, Gloria, Jesus, Jorge, Jose, Emilio, Victor and Juana. She is also survived by her siblings: Margarita, Honoria, Emilio, Rosie, Sophia, Pauli, Albert, and Carolina; 34 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren, 38 great great-grandchildren and three great great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Maximiliano Estrada in 1986, her infant son Jorge in 1963 and grandson Jorge Luis Estrada in 2021.
