Lorraine, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Beyer) Dahmes, was born on June 9, 1926, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County, near Clements, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm there, along with her three younger sisters. Lorraine attended grade school in Clements, graduated from Wabasso High School, and later completed a two-year secretarial course at Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. She was subsequently employed at the Redwood Electric Cooperative in Clements where she worked for 15 years. On July 5, 1952, Lorraine married Ronald Sawvell and together they settled in Clements where Ronald began his feed and seed business. Shortly thereafter Lorraine also became employed at Sawvell’s Feed and Seed, handling the bookkeeping duties. Ronald and Lorraine retired from their business in 2010, but had enjoyed working and maintaining the family farm near Clements. Lorraine loved to cook and read, and was well known for her kindness to others, her wonderful sense of humor, and the hospitality she always showed in her relationships with those she encountered throughout her life. Most importantly, however, is the special difference she made in the lives of those she loved.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Marvel Dahmes, LaDonna Fox, and Noreen Allenspach; nieces and nephews, Steve (Linda) Yungerberg, Lynn Kitzrow, Randy (Jill) Yungerberg, Judy (Dennis) Dolan, Pam (Dan) Wilkens, Richard (Ronda) Roadfeldt, Kevin (Danell) Allenspach and Kurt (Kristie) Allenspach and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ron; parents; brothers-in-law, Richard Fox, Jerry Allenspach and Elmer (Olive) Roadfeldt.
