Leona M. Hauschild, age 83, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, MN. Burial will be in the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service and Rosary to follow on Monday, April 10, 2023 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno and will resume Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby in entrusted with the arrangements.
Leona was born June 13th, 1939 to Joseph and Agnes (Friske) Citterman in Royal Township, Lincoln County, MN. She graduated from Ivanhoe Public School in 1957 and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. Leona married Claire Jerzak on June 18th 1957. They farmed many years and were blessed with six children. Leona was a hardworking wife and mother. In addition to caring for her family, she gardened, canned, sewed clothing for the family and worked in the field. After selling the family farm, Leona pursued other avenues of supporting her family. She worked a variety of jobs including electronic manufacturing, cooking at restaurants, as a CNA and Walmart. At times working more than one job. Leona married Leroy Hauschild on March 8th, 1994. Leona continued to work while Leroy farmed and ran a trucking business. Together they enjoyed socializing, going out to eat and traveling. Sunday mornings after church everyone gathered at Mom’s house to enjoy fresh baked cinnamon rolls and spend a few hours together. She made phone calls in the afternoon to chat with her family that was out of state. Leona loved her grandchildren to stop by or call her and found great joy in baking and cooking for her family and friends. Leona kept herself busy making baby blankets and crocheting for family and friends. Other times she could be found playing cards or having lunch with her friends.
Leona is survived by her children: Roger (Angie) Jerzak, Ivanhoe, MN, Alice (Clark) Winges, Loveland, CO, Vivian (Bob) Pavek, Ivanhoe, MN, James (Jill) Jerzak, Ivanhoe, MN, Kevin (Sandy) Jerzak, Arco, MN and David (Leigh) Jerzak, Peoria, AZ; grandchildren: Nancy Jerzak, Maranda Jerzak (Adam Eral), Amanda (Justin) Hill, Ashley (Jacob) Czarnecki, Dianna (Jeff) Davis, Travis (Katie) Pavek, Jacob (Lacey) Pavek, Hannah Jerzak, Emma Jerzak, Trisha (Jordan) Fink, Kelly (Keagan) Drietz, LeAnn (Taylor) Kosmalski, Michelle (Jordan) Twedt, Taylor and Blake Nelson & Chandler Jerzak; great grandchildren: Emrie Czarnecki, Olivia, Ben & Sienna Davis, Ava, Crosby, Shea & Adele Pavek, Oliver & Charlie Pavek, Hudson Fink, Layne & Kensley Drietz, Nellie & Max Kosmalski, Eleanor & Natalie Twedt; siblings: Ferdinand Citterman, Raymond (Joyce) Citterman, Clemence (Theresa) Citterman, Evelyn Panka, Esther Hoffman, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by Claire Jerzak, Leroy Hauschild; her siblings: Clara Biranowski, Ambrose Citterman, Emil Citterman and Bernice Chlub; in-laws: John Biranowski, Bernice Citterman, Mary Ann Citterman, Audrey Citterman, Walter Panka, Wallace Hoffman and Roy Chlub.
