Leon Burdette Mumm Jr., age 81 of Tracy, passed away peacefully Monday, June 22, 2020 at his home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at Tracy Area Funeral Home with a Rosary and prayer service at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.  Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, please wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leon Burdette Mumm Jr. was born November 24, 1938 to Leon Burdette Mumm Sr. and Marie Catherine (Dibbert) Mumm in Waterbury Township, Nebraska.  He attended school in Moville, Iowa.  In his younger years, he was a saddle bronc rodeo rider for the Bob Barnes Rodeo circuit.  Later, Leon worked for Tyler Electric and Appliance Company installing telephone poles.  While working in Garvin, he met the love of his life Susan Kay Lamfers.  Leon and Susan were united in marriage June 7, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, Minnesota.  The couple lived in Amiret for 40 years.  Leon worked for the Lyon County Highway Department for 32 years.  He retired from the highway department and went to work as a custodian for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and school for 10 years.  Leon and Susan resided at Lake Shetek for 22 years.  Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He volunteered to help with the Shetek Area Sportsman Association, the Let’s Go Fishing for Seniors and several other Tracy Area Chamber events.   Leon loved playing guitar with his brother-in-law, Jerry and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Leon is survived by his wife Susan of 62 years; five children: Jeff (Jean) Mumm of Basin, WY, Kathy (Larry) Fedde of Amiret, Lori (Rick) Wakefield of Walnut Grove, Mike (June) Mumm of Tracy and Jessica (Justin) Swenhaugen of Tracy; grandchildren: Laura, Rhonda, Terry, Dwayne, Rebecca, Amy, Jodi, Mandy, Josh, Katelyn and Taylor; 15 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dwayne, LeRoy, Loretta and Coralyn.
