Lavonne Forbrook, age 96, of Redwood Falls, formally of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial at a later date in St. Patrick’s Birch Coulee Cemetery. A public visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. A celebration of life and burial will be scheduled later in the Spring of 2022. Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Redwood Falls & Morgan.
Lavonne Marie Forbrook was born to Le and Florence (Scanlan) Kenney in Redwood Falls on October 1, 1925. She graduated from Redwood Area High School in 1943. Lavonne worked at Dekalb, as a secretary until marrying Willmar. On November 6, 1947 she married Willmar William Forbrook, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, where she was a member. Together they moved to Franklin to raise their family of 7 children. Lavonne later worked as the secretary at the Cedar Mountain Elementary School in Franklin, from 1970 until retirement in 1990. In November of 2013, Lavonne moved to Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Lavonne was a member the church of Sacred Heart in Franklin, and belonged to the CCW, serving as secretary on the parish board and taught religion for 10 years. After the closing of the church, she became a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. She was an active member of the Bridge Club for over 50 years and the Civic Club in Franklin. Lavonne also enjoyed quilting, embroidering, playing card games, especially Bridge, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
Lavonne is survived by her children, Connie Simmons of Spicer, Mike (Linda) Forbrook of Carolstream, IL, Mary (Maynard) Hoffmann of Wyoming, MN, Susan (Kevin) Fox of Franklin, James (Barbara) Forbrook of Chaska, Lisa (Doug) Iverson of Ramsey, Robert (Lisa) Forbrook of South St. Paul, sister-in-laws, Marlee Kenney of Redwood Falls and Darlene Forbrook of Rochester, brother-in-law, Louie Forbrook of Sleepy Eye, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Lavonne is preceded in death by her husband, Willmar, parents Leo and Florence Kenney, her 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
