Jerome Herbert was born on October 7, 1943, to Joseph and Rose (Lacek) Chlebecek in Canby, MN. On February 27, 1965, he was united in marriage to Eleanor McKeen at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with a reception at the Midway Café. They were blessed with two children and married for 42 years until Ellie’s passing in 2007. Jerome was a volunteer firefighter and worked alongside his dad at their autobody shop, a place he spent countless hours and tinkered around in up until his passing. He loved to race cars, hunt, and garden, as evident by the numerous pots of geraniums he kept in front of the shop. But above all, Jerome loved to fish. He enjoyed the sport with his children, grandchildren, and countless friends. When asked how often he’d go fishing, Jerome always said “At least once a day.” He was a fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves and watching his grandkids play sports. Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping and shared stories of trips to Canada and weekends at Lake Shakotan.
Jerome passed away at the age of 81 on December 19, 2024, at his daughter’s residence.
He is survived by his son Joe (Paula) Chlebecek of Ray, MN, and daughter Janel (Doug) Possail of Arco, MN; grandchildren Blake, Micah, and Roman Chlebecek, Andrew (Tracy) Neville, Justine (Josh) Beier, and Bailey (Aaron) Bunger; great-grandchildren Domonic and Ali Neville, Carson, Jovi and Kylie Beier.
