A graveside service and interment for Jerald “Jerry” Pohlen, 77, of Taunton, will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.

Jerald “Jerry” Jerome Pohlen was born on July 20, 1943, in Marshall, to Benjamin and Lorene (Thomas) Pohlen. Jerry grew up on the family farm near Minneota, and attended school in Minneota. After leaving high school, he ran a corn shelling business for a couple of years. Jerry later moved to Moline, Illinois, to work at a welding shop. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. Jerry moved back to Minnesota to farm with his family, then bought his own farm site near St. Leo in 1970. Jerry was an easygoing man who enjoyed his work. He was a farmer at heart, and like a true farmer, never really retired. Jerry went hunting a few times in his early years, but most of his time was spent farming, or driving around the area looking at other farms.

Jerald died on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the Sanford Canby Medical Center. He is survived by his sons Brian of Silver Lake and Brad (Angie) of Taunton; grandchildren Jada Moon and Skylar Gilbertson; siblings Ben (Sue) Pohlen, Doug (Linda) Pohlen, Diane (Jim) Jelen, and Margene (Bernie) Claeys; brother-in-law Herb Schmitz and sister-in-law Cecilia Pohlen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Phyllis Van Watermuelen, Delores Schmitz, Lois Schulte, Thomas Pohlen, Mike Pohlen and Eunice Haugen.
