WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that the Highway 59 concrete repair project will commence on July 8. This project involves two major sections: south of Marshall and south of Garvin. The expected completion date is October 18, weather permitting.
Project Details:
South of Marshall:
- Highway 59 from Lyon County Road 6 to Highway 23.
- Work will upgrade sidewalks and pedestrian crossings to meet ADA standards.
- Detour routes include Highway 23 and County Roads 35 and 6.
- Estimated duration: five weeks.
South of Garvin:
- Highway 59 from 201st Street to Lyon County Road 14.
- Detour routes include Highway 14 and County Roads 5, 29, and 48.
- Estimated duration: seven weeks.
Traffic Impacts:
- Detours will be in place for each section (see attached maps).
- Possible overlap of work zones and detours for up to five days.
- Short-term intersection closures for ADA improvements may require minor detours.
- Businesses along the route will remain open and accessible.
