Harold Gegner, age 93, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from Bethany Lutheran Church, Gilfillan, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the church.  The family requests memorials be directed to the Bethany Cemetery Fund.

Harold Edward Gegner was born April 16, 1928 on the family farm in Selma Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Walter Gegner Sr. and Agnes (Lenertz) Gegner. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Congregational Church in Comfrey. Harold graduated from Comfrey High School in 1946 and then attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture School graduating in 1948. He enjoyed being a member of the Ag School boxing team. Harold met the love of his life Hope Hansen there and they were married in 1948 in Bethany Lutheran Church rural Morgan. He was active in many organizations, the Paxton Township Supervisor, played trombone in Morgan Community Band, 4H leader of Paxton Patriots, helped organize the Redwood County Pork Producers,, taught Sunday School, served on the Church Council as an officer and as an active member of the Friends of Gilfillan for many years.  Harold and Hope loved to travel spending summers in their lake trailer by Perham. He loved all his family, wife, children, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids visiting with them as well as their friends. Watching crops and his cattle grow on his farm was another of his loves and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Harold is survived by his children; Lance Gegner, Christine (William) Schwandt, and Dan (Angie) Gegner; 8 grandchildren: Matthew (Samantha) Gegner, Amber (Tim) Adams, Lavender (Dana) Boyles, Tyson (Marilyn) Schwandt, Feather (Dan) Tankersley, Jodie (Dave) Roeder, Sarah (Joe) Kazmierczak and Jamie (Shannon) Gegner; 12great-grandchildren: Latricia (Franklin) Dudash, Cebada Boyles, Lexa Boyles, Kira Boyles, Jason Tankersley, Roland Gegner, Wayland Gegner, Amelia, Charlotte, Joseph, Ethan and Claire Kazmierczak as well as 2 great-great-grandchildren Octavia and Onyx Dudash.  He was preceded in death by his wife Hope, daughter-in-law Karen Gegner, infant grandsons Michael and Jared Gegner, his parents Walter and Agnes Gegner, siblings; Walter Jr. Gegner, Frederick Gegner, and Carol Lee Konsterlie.
