GRANITE FALLS (KMHL) – Granite Falls Health appears one step closer to becoming a subsidiary of the Avera Marshall region.

According to a press release, the Granite Falls Health board of directors, the Granite Falls City Council and the Avera Marshall Board of Directors have approved moving forward with a non-binding letter of intent for the purchase of the facility.

“There are still details to be worked out, but we’re moving forward at a good pace and feel this will be a great fit for the community and region of Granite Falls,” said Granite Falls Health CEO Tom Kooiman.

Avera was one of four health systems invited to respond to a request for proposals from Granite Falls Health earlier this spring.

If approved, Granite Falls Health would become Avera Granite Falls at the start of 2020. The Avera Board will consider the letter of intent at their meeting September 18th.
