ST. PAUL (KMHL) – Gov. Tim Walz announced yesterday that he will have surgery on his left knee Thursday to help repair a medial meniscus tear.
In a press release, Walz says the injury is common for runners – he is expecting a smooth surgery. He will temporarily transfer power and duties to Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, while he is under general anesthetic for the procedure.
Walz will undergo the surgery at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The governor says he is expecting to return home later Thursday afternoon and will begin physical therapy and rehab immediately.
