The funeral service for Gordon “Gordie” St. Aubin, 67, of Russell, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Grace First Parish in Russell. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place following the service at the Russell Cemetery. Gordon died on Monday, February 12, 2024, at his residence in Russell. The Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Gordon Richard St. Aubin was born on August 11, 1956, in Marshall, MN, to Richard and Margaret (Lamote) St. Aubin. He grew up in Southwest MN on his parents’ dairy farm and graduated from Lynd High School. On May 7, 1977, he married his high school sweetheart, Jan Weinzetl. They had two daughters, Nichole and Jacquelyn. He was in the National Guard for 6 years. He did autobody repair for 35+ years, before going to work for Northern Con-Ag for 16 years as a heavy equipment operator. He had no choice but to retire from Northern Con-Ag after his cancer diagnosis. Ever since he was a teenager he had a passion for cars. He enjoyed participating in car shows to show off his 48 Plymouth Business Coupe and to look at the other classic cars. He loved history, politics, collecting guns and NASCAR memorabilia. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and old westerns, hunting and fishing, playing Rolle Bolle, and walking through salvage yards. What he enjoyed the most was spending time with family and friends. Gordie had an exceptionally generous heart. He had a great sense of humor, always laughing and goofing around with his family and friends. He was the life of the party!
Gordie passed away at his home on February 12, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Jan; children Nichole (Josh) DeVos of Milford, IA, Jacquelyn (Glenn) Holewa of Foley, MN; grandchildren Camden, Preston, Celeste, Payton and Phinn; mother Margaret St. Aubin; siblings Greg (Julie) St. Aubin, Sharon (Rodney) Buffington, Roger (Lori) St. Aubin, Brad (Donna) St. Aubin; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Richard St. Aubin; grandparents John and Elizabeth St. Aubin and August and Elizabeth Lamote; as well as other relatives and friends.
