Gladys C. Trautman, age 95, of Hendricks, Minnesota and formerly of Lake Benton, Minnesota died on December 2, 2020, at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Out of an abundance of caution for loved ones and friends, Gladys’ funeral services will be private. Hartquist Funeral Home – Lake Benton Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Gladys C. (Hemish) Trautman was born in Canby, Minnesota on September 10, 1925, to Joseph and Emma (Dushak) Hemish. She attended country school and Canby High School where she graduated in 1942. After one year of teacher training, she taught in a rural district near Canby for four years. She married Lyle Trautman on August 10, 1947. They were blessed with 5 children and 50 years together. They lived on a farm southwest of Lake Benton, Minnesota until Lyle retired and they moved into town in 1989. Lyle passed away in 1998. “Glady” continued to reside in Lake Benton. In January of 2015, she moved from her home to the assisted living community in Hendricks, Minnesota. She resided there for the following four years, before entering the Hendricks Nursing Home where she died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the age of 95 years, two months, and 22 days.  Glady was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton where she was a member of the Dorcas Society. She was a charter member of the Town and Country Study Club and enjoyed ushering at the Opera House. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Glady started and maintained a flower garden at the county park for 17 years. She was on the altar guild and often brought flowers for church. She volunteered at Senior Dining as well. She enjoyed playing Tripoli and watching the Twins, but most of all her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Victoria (Paul) Lovestrand of Baldwin, Wisconsin, Scott (Charlene) Trautman of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Roxanne (Jim) Williams of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Lyle “Duff” (Pam) Trautman of Lake Benton, and Jody (Lisa) Trautman of Champlin, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, Eric (Julie) and Troy (Lisa) Lovestrand, Heather (Noal) and Joshua (Christine) Trautman, Jesse and Nathan Williams, Zachary and Alex Trautman, and Olivia and Kate Trautman; four great-grandchildren, Lucy, Max, Ellie, and Joseph; and brother, Adrian “Hunsy” (Wanda) Hemish of Canby. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
