Frederick Gerogie Lichtsinn was born on September 15, 1931, on his parent’s farm in Diamond Lake Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. He was one of nine children born to Henry and Ellen (Reynolds) Lichtsinn. Fred “Fritz” was baptized in the Methodist Church and attended school in Arco, Minnesota. After his father died during Fred’s service in the United States army during the Korean War, Fred returned home to his family farm. Soon thereafter he bought his family’s farm in 1959.  On November 23, 1963, Fred was united in marriage to Diane Anderson at the Lake Benton Methodist Church Parsonage. The couple made their home on the same farm between Lake Benton and Arco for 50 years before they moved into Marshall in 2013. The couple shared nearly 60 years of marriage together and raised four daughters.  Fred was a lifelong farmer. He took pride in his work and raised four hard working women. He was a long-time member of the Lake Benton United Methodist Church, Lake Benton American Legion, and served 30 years on the Diamond Lake Township Board. His other enjoyments in life included stopping at the casino to try his luck on the slot machine, watching westerns, Sunday morning church on the TV, keeping up with boxing and rodeos, listening to country music, and working his way through a puzzle or word search. Most of all, Fred treasured the time he spent with his family and thrived around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
