PLEASANT VALLEY – A search and rescue operation was successfully conducted in Pleasant Valley on Saturday after a farm worker went missing while working on fencing. The Winona County Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately 4 p.m., prompting the deployment of a Multi-Agency Response Team (MART), neighbors on ATVs, and over 35 rescuers to locate the individual.
The missing person was found in a remote and hard-to-reach location just an hour into the search. Rescuers utilized a helicopter and ropes to safely retrieve the victim, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was airlifted to a hospital by Gundersen Air.
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the teamwork shown by the various agencies involved, noting it was the second major rescue in 72 hours. Among the agencies were the Wilson Fire Department, Winona County SOAR Team, Minnesota State Patrol Air Rescue, and Gundersen Air.
The victim is currently receiving treatment, and no further details have been released.
