Play Like a Girl: A Celebration of Women Composers

On Monday, December 6th at 7:30 p.m., the SMSU Jazz Ensemble will perform their fall concert entitled “Hear Me Roar: A Celebration of Women Composers”. This will be the second in a series of concerts featuring music written by some of the finest female composers. This concert will include music by some of the pioneers of jazz including Mary Lou Williams, Lillian Hardin Armstrong, and Toshiko Akiyoshi. The concert is free and open to the public in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre.
