Evelyn B. Trautman was born on January 12, 1922, to Alfred and Katherine (Shriver) Cyriacks on a farm in Lake Benton Township of Lincoln County, Minnesota. She was raised on the farm south of Lake Benton where she attended country school in District 10 and then Lake Benton High School. After her graduation, she attended General Beadle College (Dakota State) in Madison, South Dakota for one year of teacher training and taught for four years at a country school. On June 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elmer Trautman at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Following their marriage, they farmed for 40 years in Verdi Township of Lincoln County. When they retired from farming in 1985, they moved into Lake Benton.
On Monday, May 25, 2020, Evelyn died peacefully at Central Minnesota Senior Care in Lake Benton at the age of 98 years, four months, and 13 days.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota where she was baptized on March 26, 1922, and confirmed on June 27, 1937. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was a member of the Dorcas Society and the SJ Club. She was also a member of the Lake Benton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and card playing.
Evelyn is lovingly remembered by her children, Terry Trautman of Neligh, Nebraska and Allan Trautman and his wife, Sue of Darwin, Minnesota; grandchildren, Taylor and Tim Trautman of Minnetonka, Minnesota; sister, Lorraine Brandt of Hendricks, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Robert Bushman of Hendricks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents, Alfred and Katherina Cyriacks; brothers, Walter and Marvin Cyriacks; sisters, Doreen Kinner, Madalyn Huska, Marie Bushman, and Bernice Trautman; an infant brother; and a grandchild, Gregory Trautman.
