Evelyn Emelia Bengtson Lundgren was born on March 26, 1924 to Ernfred and Hulda (Lind) Bengtson on the Oshkosh family farm during a snowstorm and before the doctor could arrive. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Providence Valley Lutheran Church, baptized in 1924 and confirmed in 1938. She attended District 37 in Oshkosh township for grades 1-8, and graduated from Canby High School in 1942. On September 28, 1948, Evelyn was united in marriage to Gordon L. Lundgren in Sioux City, IA. They made their home on several places in Oshkosh and started farming in 1955, with Evelyn working along side of Gordon on the farm. They enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee and lunch, being active in various roles at Providence and the VFW and giving rides to appointments for others. Evelyn was involved with WELCA at Providence, enjoying the quilting days spent tying quilts and fellowship. She was also active in Global Missions, Lac Qui Parle conference and locally. Evelyn was a member of the Canby VFW auxiliary. Her attitude was to go when she could, to remain active in church and community. She was an avid fan of the MN Twins, hardly missing a game in many years, faithful fan no matter how they were playing.
Evelyn is survived by sisters-in-law: Dorothy (John) Swanson of Alexandria, MN, Marilyn Mueller of Tower, MN and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents; her sister, Elvira Bloom and her brothers, Reuben and Walter (Audrey) Bengtson.
